Day 2
David Scott Trail

Enjoy this 11-km point-to-point trail near Mawphlang, Meghalaya. Generally considered a moderately challenging route. This is a very popular area for birding, hiking, and walking, so you’ll likely encounter other people while exploring. The trail is open year-round and is beautiful to visit anytime.

This is one of the oldest trails in the region. It was discovered by the British officer David Scott and was named after him. This route was found as a mule route between Assam to Bangladesh in the 1800s. Although the trail stretches for roughly about 100km but with time, this trail has been broken into many smaller trails that can be completed in a day. The most famous of these smaller trails are from Mawphlang to Lad Mawphlang. It has beautiful lush green forest areas of the Eastern Khasi Hills running throughout. There are many scintillating waterfalls throughout the trail, not only that, but river Umaim which flows right next to you, is just spectacular. The region has a wide variety of flora, fauna, and avifauna, and it is one of the good spots for bird watching. Afternoon return back to Mawphalang and drive to Cherrapunjee approx. 40 kms/ 2 hrs. Overnight.
Day 3
This is a trek to the river bed at the western end of Laitkynsew hill. After walking to Nongwar village by road this trail takes off downhill by steep stone stairway. At the start the steps are steeply inclined. Later part proceeds along the top of a spur till it reaches the steep banks of the river. There are nice angling spots around here. One can venture to walk upstream. In winter the river flows along one side of the river bed. On the other side you get stagnated pools of water left behind as the water level had receded. These pools get warmed up faster by the winter sun and the water is warmer to swim here than in the flowing water. It is nice to cook your simple meal here using the jungle deadwood after few swims in the pool. If you are lucky with your angling, fish just fresh out of water after cooking is great to taste.
Day 4
Double Decker bridge trek

Located in the thick tropical forest of Meghalaya, cloaked with rain during most part of the year are the fantastic man-made cum natural wonders of the living root bridges. Created by the people of the Khasi tribe, these roots grow from the ancient rubber trees, seen only in the northeast region. These roots are trained by the Khasis to grow in such a manner as be in the form of bridges on the top of a river. These bridges are an amazing alternative to wooden bridges that dwindle with so much rain falling on them. The most popular tourist attraction of Cherrapunjee, these double decker living root bridges are 2 bridges that are stacked one on the other, made because of the entanglement of roots. Post trek you will be transferred to Pynursla. Overnight
Day 5
Mawrynkhang Bambo Trail

After early breakfast drive trek point where the bamboo trail trek start (6-7 hrs trek subject to trekker fitness not for Aged people). After that drive to Shillong. Overnight

(The trek starts with a bamboo trail along the broom stick farms leading to a rough stony path till we reach the cleanest river in the region ‘Umrew River’. The trail leads to some scary bamboo bridges on the ridges of the rock for most of the trek, the only support to the bridge being the steep, smooth edge of the rock alongside which the bridge runs. The course of this scary Bamboo trek is amidst forests, astounding waterfalls, Rocky caves, stony stair routes, and breathtaking view of the valley.

The final stretch to reach Mawryngkhang is the toughest of all, where the path leads us under and through a rocky cave and then through a 150 m bamboo skywalk and finally a steep climb over a 100 meter tall bamboo ladder to reach to the top of the Stone. As we conquer the great Mawrynkhang… The view of the river gorge from Mawryngkhang is captivating)
